Bimetal rivets Manufacturing Technology

New series of bimetal rivets have been developed by MTI to replace the traditional TB2 rivets and high-lock bolts. The rivets were welded by inertia friction welding (IFW) by other MTI facility using Ti64 as the upper body and Ti45Nb as the tail. The relevant testing and assessment onto the products approved that bimetal rivets have obtained high shearing strength and good weld ability at room temperature. In addition, the weight of bimetal rivets is reduced by 20-50% compared with that of bolt-nut lock form.

The NC Machining Technology of Dual-program System

Dual-Program System NC Machining Technology is an innovative method for machining the complex and precise fastener structures such as sleeve, nuts and shifting anvil. The advantage of this technology is that it could synchronously machine both the contour and the inner hole with one time clamping. By employ such dual-program system, the production efficiency has dramatically increased. For instance, the machining time for a shifting anvil was increased from 10 minutes to 15 seconds.

The Upsetting Technology for Hot Multi-mode

Multi-Mould Hot Upsetting Technology is an advanced upsetting method to machine the high-end aeronautical fasteners with multi-step or inner hole, such as stems, nuts and sleeves. According to accurate deformation calculation, reasonable distributions of deformation ratio, and mold design, near-net shape products are formed directly with highly oriented microstructures and great mechanical properties. Meanwhile, the post-machining procedure is shortened, thus improving the production efficiency by more than 10 times, and reducing the material consumption by 50%compared with conventional route..
